The French Connection Retrospective

Having released three EPs in the past few years, The French Connection has finally come out with a retrospective of their work from 2016-2018. "HELLO" and "ATTACK" were among the most notable releases, and "FACT OR FACT" is an excellent example of the French Connection's ability to produce a high-energy, highly-engaging live show. It's the first time that fans have been able to hear both of these EPs side-by-side.

"Nighthawks" was originally conceived as the third film in the series, but the original version starred Gene Hackman and Ed O'Neil, who were both great at their respective roles. Although it lacks the elements of a great film, this television adaptation shares a similar name and hat design to the The french connection hello series. The movie even features an appearance from the original Popeye Doyle, who looks like a French Connection character.

A semi-documentary, The French Connection is a crime thriller with a message of truth, grime, and reality. It established a new persona for Friedkin and paved the way for more influential works by the director. Later on, he would shift to a more horrific tone in The Exorcist and follow the tough-guy character into the darkest parts of life. Ultimately, The French Connection set the stage for a defining decade in American filmmaking.

In the '70s, William Friedkin, an Academy Award-winning screenwriter/director, was a major influence on the American film industry. After the movie premiered in 1973, he was largely credited for bringing the crime film to the big screen. Friedkin won an Oscar for his work on the film, as well as a Golden Globe for his performance. In addition to Friedkin, he also worked with William Hurt in the '70s-era film "An American in Paris."

The French Connection has been a commercial and critical success. It has won five Oscars and eight nominations, and has inspired several remakes. This acclaimed crime thriller spawned two sequels, French Connection II and The French Connection III. With a terrific cast and screenplay, The French Connection is a classic 70's crime drama. And the chase scene is one of the best in cinema history. If you aren't familiar with the original, check out the retrospective to see if you've missed out on any classic moments.

The sequels to The French Connection are equally impressive. While the original cast originally considered John Wayne for the role of Harry, the actor's character turned out to be better suited to the role. He was replaced by Hackman, a man who created a fully dimensional and likable character for audiences. In contrast, Wayne, Bronson, and Eastwood were all about mythologizing violence and hiding behind a façade of coolness. In The French Connection, both McQueen and Doyle portrayed conflicted human nature, while Eastwood and Wayne chose to hide behind a facade of cool.
