Understanding What a Hydraulic Determinate Valve Is

 


Hydraulic directional control valves are among the most basic components of hydraulic and pneumatic operations. Typically, DCVs allow fluid motion to be controlled from one or several fixed sources in one or more directions. DCVs will generally include a shaft in a cylinder that is electrically or mechanically actuated.

The operating principle of a mechanically-operated directional control valve is similar to that of an electric starter. The difference is that the starting motor is in the case of an electric starter and the valve is in the case of a hydraulic valve. The shaft of the mechanically-operated directional control valve is placed into a gear that is engaged in the transmission of mechanical power from one source to another. In the case of DCVs, the gear is also in a gear-type so that the valve can be mechanically operated in only one direction.

A hydraulic solenoid can also be used as a hydraulic directional control valve. In a hydraulic solenoid coil, a rotor within an electrical motor is arranged within a housing. The housing functions as a secondary coil that acts as an electric motor. This means that the electrical current will be controlled by the solenoid. When a hydraulic valve is activated, the electrical current will be controlled either mechanically or electronically depending upon which type of solenoid coil is present within the housing.

To some, the hydraulic directional control valve may seem to be too complex to be of any practical use in their hydraulic system. This type of valve may require a minimum of three wire connections that are all necessary for its operation. Additionally, these valves have a minimum of five hydraulic wire leads that are needed for its operation. These types of valves are considered to be very safe and efficient when it comes to its design.

The hydraulic controlled actuator that is found within the Hydraulic directional valve operated directional control valve is generally comprised of either an iron core or a spring. Within the latter, there are five insulated conductor wires that are connected to one another in series. These wires are then encased in an outer protective case made from either polystyrene or thermoplastic. Hydraulic solenoid coils typically have a variable resistance value and can be used to control a valve's lift, tilt, or other operating parameters.

A hydraulic solenoid operated directional control valve is designed to be very simple and easy to install. Many of these valves have a built in electrical motor that is designed to work at full capacity when an electrical power source is present. This makes these valves highly effective for use in both small and large scale applications where high power is required. However, before you begin using a directional control valve, it is essential that you make sure that you have the proper voltage and current levels as well as a suitable ground and a power source on hand.
